The 'Butte Montmartre' or Montmartre Hill, is the highest point in Paris, crowned by the Sacré-Coeur Basilica. Every day thousands of visitors climb the 222 steps to reach the top, where one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the city awaits them. Almost as popular with visitors as the Basilicaitself, the steps that lead up to it, and especially the open area at the top, have become an attraction in their own right and are today one of the most popular tourist sites in the capital.
